Chairman:    John Dutton

Secretary:

The Community Service Committee's role is to work with the local community youth groups.

February 2008

Over the past 12 months the committee has been involved with a number of projects

with local schools.

Young Chef Competition held in January

Hagley Catholic School, Haybridge High School and Old Swinford Hospital each entered 2 students.  The winner was Jonathan (third from the right) and second prize was awarded to Jessica Savva (second from the right).

Rotary Junior Community Award in June last year

Pupils from Hob Green and the Ridge Primary Schools completed a programme of out of school activities leading to the presentation of a medallion and a certificate by the Mayor of Dudley.  The photograph shows pupils from the Ridge Primary School.

Old Swinford Hospital Interact Club

Students at the school have organised fund raising events over the last year.  From the money raised they were able to help with the Oscar Fradgley appeal.   Oscar suffers from a very rare disorder which means that he was born without hands and feet.

The photograph shows Interact President Lauren Jones with Oscar and his father accepting the cheque.

Schools or Rotary Clubs who would like to know more about these and other activities should contact the Club’s secretary.
