The Youth Opportunities Committee's role is to work with the local community youth groups.  

July 2009

In the forthcoming Rotary year the committee will be continuing with the following activities with local schools:

 Young Chef Competition

 The photograph shows the winner of last years competition, Jonathan Monk, receiving his prize from President Michael Pettigrew.  Jonathan went on to win the District and Regional competitions and was one of eight finalists in the National competition.

Rotary Junior Community Award

 In the last Rotary year pupils from Hob Green and The Ridge primary schools completed a programme of out of school activities leading to the presentation by the Mayor of a medallion and a certificate.

The press cutting  shows year 6 pupils from The Ridge primary school wearing their medallions and holding the certificates.  They also participated in a ‘shoebox project’

 

Interact Club

 This is run at Old Swinford Hospital for year 11, 12 and 13 students.  Each year they undertake projects to raise money fro charity.  The photograph shows them in Mary Stevens Park preparing for the Stourbridge Stagger - a sponsored run.
